ABOUT THE BOOTCAMP
DSN AI Bootcamp 2023
The DSN AI Bootcamp, is an all-expenses-paid learning bootcamp that builds Africa’s capacity in the use of advanced machine learning and deep learning concepts and drives the application of AI for socio-economic development.
The bootcamp is driven by a broader strategic intent to accelerate Africa’s development through the solution-oriented application of machine learning to solve social and business problems and to galvanise a data science knowledge revolution improving employability, technological innovations and sustainable socio-economic development. This reinforces the DSN’s vision to train one million AI talents in the next ten years through world-class knowledge and best practices applications.
The grand finale of the AI Bootcamp 2023 will hold on-site at the Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State, Nigeria, between August 14 and August 20, 2023 and will accept professionals, researchers, students and developers.

AI Invasion
The Free AI classes in every city is a DSN intervention aimed at building a sustainable value-oriented ecosystem.
PHASE 2
Pre-bootcamp
The Pre-Bootcamp Study Program is an intensive program geared towards preparing participants for the AI Bootcamp.
PHASE 3
Bootcamp AI
500 best candidates will be selected to attend the AI bootcamp. After a qualification hackathon and a validation/assessment Quiz.

Free AI Classes In Every City
It’s a new year of career shift and DSN, is excited to introduce to you the 2023 edition of Free AI classes in every city. The Free AI classes in every city is a DSN intervention aimed at building a sustainable value-oriented ecosystem where each participant has a clear sense of mutually beneficial obligation to learn, impact and tutor upcoming generations of Data Scientists. We are pleased to inform you that this year’s edition will be happening in your city or a city near you.
This event would run from April 3rd – May 6th 2023. Cohort schedule:
Cohort 1: April 3rd – April 7th
Cohort 2: April 10th – April 14th
Cohort 3: April 17th – April 21st
Cohort 4: April 24th – April 28th
Cohort 5: April 8th – May 6th (Saturdays only)

It is imperative for you to sustain your learning even after the program. This gives you the opportunity to have an AI+ Membership ID and be integrated into the DSN AI community, a vast learning community with over 200,000 members who are actively learning. Begin your journey to the AI Bootcamp with our free introductory AI classes in every city and start your data science career with our strictly focused beginner’s immersion into Python programming and machine learning. Join any AI In Every city introductory class to Artificial Intelligence , happening in over 150 cities in 36 states of Nigeria and in 13 African countries.
Register for AI in Every City as a Host
At DSN, we believe that with great power comes great responsibility. This sense of responsibility has fueled our drive for Free AI Classes in Every City.
We seek volunteer hosts in all states, cities and campuses in Nigeria and in other African countries who will help to provide the following for FREE:
- A location (hub or a classroom/hall) for the classes for 5 days for your preferred cohort.
- Training facilitation equipment – Projector/TV Screen, Standby Power, and a good ambience for the 5 days of the chosen cohort.
- Create awareness and mobilize participants for the free classes within your city/communities.
Benefits of a Host
- The host will be duly and generously recognized within the DSN community ranking for future benefits and recommendations.
- Access to DSN’s mentorship program.
- Access to a Free 1-year DataCamp learning subscription worth $200.

Register for AI in Every City as a Tutor
The FREE AI Classes in Every City program was borne out of the passion for driving inclusiveness, fairness and accountable learning that catalyse community spirit, ethical
values, quality, and excellence. This initiative encourages individuals to volunteer and give back to their communities.
We seek volunteer tutors in all states, cities and campuses in Nigeria and outside the country who will help to introduce the new generation of Artificial Intelligence
practitioners at various cities/campuses.
Such individuals should be expected to have general knowledge and should be able to facilitate training in the areas listed:
- Fundamentals of Python programming
- Machine Learning
- Artificial Intelligence
- Big Data

The Pre-Bootcamp Study Program is an intensive program geared towards preparing participants for the AI Bootcamp.
- Live Classes facilitated by experts from top AI companies, i.e. Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, BigML etc.
- Access to open sourced and curated content from a top global institutions.
- Tailored learning assessment to build capacity and personal project portfolio.
- Learning support & collaboration coordinated on Slack, Telegram, Google Meet and via direct email

1.
Machine Learning Track
This stream covers topics and concepts in:
- Python Programming for Machine Learning.
- SciKit-Learn for Machine Learning
- Machine Learning Theories and Applications
The following is an outline of the learning outcomes for the machine learning track.
- Intuitive and basic math understanding of Machine Learning
- Understand and build simple linear regression algorithm from scratch
- Understand and build simple clustering algorithms from scratch (Kmeans and K Nearest Neighbors)
- Understand and build Support Vector Machine algorithm from scratch
- Build supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning Algorithms using standard libraries like Scikit Learn
- Apply Machine Learning to real world problems
- Intuitive and basic math understanding of Deep Neural Networks
- Build Deep Neural Networks for with TensorFlow
- Intuitively understand and build Natural Language Processing Models
- Understand, build and implement Convolutional and Recurrent Neural Networks

Deep Learning Track
This stream covers topics and concepts in:
- Deep Learning Theories.
- Computer Vision
- Natural Language Processing
- Reinforcement Learning
The following is an outline of the learning outcome for the deep learning track:
- Intuitively build a neural network.
- Overcome overfitting and underfitting in their network via the use of regularization techniques.
- Understand the importance of the data pipeline for both language modelling and computer vision.
- Understand the concept of the key, value and query in a transformer model.
- Understand the importance of embedding layers for sequence decoding and encoding.
- Understand the limitations of recurrent netaworks and how LSTM was used to solve some of its limitations.
- Fully optimize their model for optimal production.
- Enlightened on the importance of mathematical principle guiding all forms of neural networks.
- Intuitively determine the type of model that best solves a problem.
- Build a full data and model pipeline for any problem relating to vision and sequences.
